Florida Bar President-Elect Ramón Abadin begins term on Florida Bar Foundation board

Ray.AbadinMAITLAND, Fla. – As Florida Bar president-elect, Ramón A. Abadin began serving July 1 as a designated director on the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

A partner in the Miami office of Sedgwick LLP, Abadin focuses on complex commercial insurance and corporate litigation matters, as well as specialty tort defense litigation. He is a past president of the Cuban American Bar Association and has served on The Florida Bar Board of Governors, the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on the Federal Judiciary, and on the Third District Court of Appeal Judicial Nominating Commission.

Abadin was a director of the Florida Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company, where he served on the Investment and Claims committees. He also serves on the board of the Westcare Foundation, where he is chair of the Risk Management Committee and a member of the Executive Committee.

He is a recipient of the G. Kirk Haas Award from The Florida Bar, awarded to one attorney a year, the Haitian Lawyers Association Significant Contribution Award, and the Passing on the Leadership Award from the Cuban American Bar Association. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Tulane University and his law degree at the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law. Abadin is also a Fellow of The Florida Bar Foundation.
