Tampa attorney Murray Silverstein appointed to Florida Bar Foundation board

MAITLAND, Fla. —Tampa attorney Murray Silverstein has been appointed by The
Florida Bar to the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

Silverstein is earned his bachelor’s and law degrees at Stetson University. He is currently an attorney at Greenberg Traurig, P.A. where he focuses his practice on commercial litigation and class actions.

Silverstein served on The Florida Bar Board of Governors for eight years where he chaired several Board committees, and recently completed his chairmanship of the Florida Rules of Judicial Administration Committee. As a Florida Supreme Court appointee, he also serves on the Florida Courts Technology Commission, which advises the Court on technology issues in Florida’s courts.

“I am an unconditional supporter and active participant in the provision of pro bono legal services to the poor,” Silverstein said. “No one should be denied access to the courts or legal assistance when needed.”

Silverstein received the William Reece Smith Jr. Public Service Award in 2006, The Florida Bar President’s Award of Merit in 2010 and The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award in 2011. He was a board member and past president of the Community Law Program in St. Petersburg.

Silverstein, a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow, began his term July 1.
