ORLANDO — As Florida Bar president-elect, Tampa attorney Gwynne A. Young will serve as a designated director on the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization that works on behalf of Florida’s legal profession to expand access to justice.
Young earned her bachelor’s degree at Duke University and her juris doctor from the University of Florida College of Law.

As shareholder of Carlton Fields, Young practices in business, real property and title insurance litigation, along with trade and insurance regulation law. She also practices in estates and trusts and eminent domain law. She leads the Business Litigation and Trade Regulation Practice Group at Carlton Fields’ Tampa office.

Young is active within the legal profession and serves on several Florida Bar sections and committees, including the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section, Business Law Section and the Judicial Independence Committee. She also served on the American Bar Association’s Steering Committee on the Unmet Legal Needs of Children and was president of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation. Young is currently emeritus trustee of the University of Florida Law Center Association, Inc.

She has also received recognition for her pro bono work, including being the 1999 recipient of the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Jimmy Kynes Pro Bono Award and the recipient of The Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award in 2003.

Young, a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow, began her term July 1.
