Attorney Mayanne Downs to serve on Florida Bar Foundation board

Orlando attorney Mayanne Downs has been appointed by The Florida Bar to the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

President and managing director at GrayRobinson, Downs has served as president of the Orange County Bar Association and its Legal Aid Society, and the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She has been on The Florida Bar Board of Governors since 2002 and served as president of The Florida Bar from 2010-2011. She is City Attorney for Orlando, the first woman to be appointed, and is also a member of the Judicial Qualifications Commission, which disciplines judges.

Downs received both her bachelor’s and juris doctor from the University of Florida. She is a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and a member of the Foundation’s Bronze Society for lifetime giving. Her term will go through June 2019.

The Florida Bar Foundation accomplishes its mission by funding programs that expand and improve representation and advocacy on behalf of low-income persons in civil legal matters, improve the fair and effective administration of justice, and promote public service among lawyers.
