The Florida Bar Foundation has hired Orlando attorney Eli Mattern as its interim director of technology. Mattern will manage the Foundation’s technology portfolio and assist in the development of its long-term technology goals. The Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice, recently acquired several technology assets including FloridaNameChange.org, Turning18.org and FloridaLawHelp.org.
Mattern, who co-founded legal tech firm SavvySuit and served as its CEO and general counsel for the past five years, will coordinate with stakeholders, identify how technology can improve access to justice and support the Foundation’s mission, and develop best practices and performance metrics. The Foundation and SavvySuit created the Florida Pro Bono Matters and the Florida Pro Bono Law School Challenge platforms.
Mattern previously worked as operations manager and data analyst for Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida and as a staff attorney for Brevard County Legal Aid. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and her law degree from Florida A&M University College of Law. She currently serves on The Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Technology and was the Orange County Bar Association Young Lawyers Section’s wellness chair from 2017-19.
