Foundation ranks among Florida’s top charities

December 2009

ORLANDO — For the third consecutive year, The Florida Bar Foundation is ranked among the top-rated charities in Florida and in the nation, according to Charity Navigator, an organization that evaluates nonprofits across the nation.

The Foundation, the only statewide organization that funds civil legal services for the poor, received its third consecutive four-star rating, the highest rating possible, for the 2008 fiscal year.

Charity Navigator issues ratings from zero to four stars based on reviews of the financial health of nonprofit organizations, including their efficiency and long-term stability

“Only 12 percent of the charities we rate have received at least three consecutive four-star evaluations, indicating that The Florida Bar Foundation consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way, and outperforms most other charities in America,” said Charity Navigator President and CEO Ken Berger.

“The rating is a true testament, especially in these tough economic times, to the Foundation’s commitment to its mission and to ensuring that the funds we receive are used effectively,” said Florida Bar Foundation President Adele I. Stone.
