Jacksonville attorney Dominic C. “Donny” Mackenzie takes office as immediate past President of The Florida Bar Foundation

dominic c donny mackenzie headshotMAITLAND, Fla. – Jacksonville attorney Dominic C. “Donny” MacKenzie will take office July 1 as immediate past president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

MacKenzie is an attorney in the litigation department at Holland & Knight, specializing in areas of medical and professional malpractice defense, health care litigation, product liability, construction litigation, and personal injury.

After obtaining his bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida State University, MacKenzie earned his law degree from the Florida State University College of Law.

He has shown a commitment to providing civil legal aid throughout his career. In addition to being Holland & Knight’s pro bono partner for Jacksonville, MacKenzie has been a Foundation director since 2007 and served on the legal assistance for the poor/ law student assistance, Interest on Trust Account operations, development and executive committees. He is also a member of the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice and co-founder of the Campaign to Maintain Justice.

MacKenzie was recognized by The Florida Bar with the President’s Pro Bono Award for the Fourth Judicial Circuit in 1998. Holland & Knight honored MacKenzie as its Pro Bono MVP Partner in 2006, and he has been recognized by the firm as a Pro Bono All Star since 2005. He was recently recognized as the 2016 recipient of the Robert J. Beckham Equal Justice Award from Jacksonville Area Legal Aid and has also been appointed as a board member for the Florida Justice Technology Center.

He has served on various state and local bar committees, including Florida Bar committees on the rules of civil procedure (chair 2002-2003), rules of judicial administration, code and rules of evidence (chair 2008-2009), professionalism, pro bono legal services and a grievance committee for the Fourth Judicial Circuit (chair 2014).

MacKenzie is also a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and a member of the Foundation’s Gold Society for lifetime giving.
