ORLANDO — The Florida Bar Foundation has appointed Senior Chief Judge John P. Kuder of the First Judicial Circuit Court to serve a three-year term on the board of the Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization that works on behalf of Florida’s legal profession to expand access to justice.

Kuder earned his bachelor’s degree from Spring Hill College and his juris doctor from the University of Florida College of Law.

Kuder had made contributions to the legal profession, including initiating and establishing the Chief Judge’s Children’s Council, Youth Gang Task Force and Task Force on Minority Issues. Kuder is a founding member of the First Judicial Circuit Inns of Court and he received the Jurist of the Year Award from the American Legion in 1994 and the Outstanding Jurist Award from the Escambia-Santa Rosa County Bar Association in 1995.

Kuder was also was named Judge of the Year by the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2006. Outside of the legal profession, Kuder founded the John P. Kuder Children’s Foundation, an orphanage and school for abandoned and orphaned children in India.

His term began July 1.
