Hon. Suzanne Van Wyk

Judge Suzanne Van Wyk, an administrative law judge with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, will take office July 1, 2022, as president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice.

Van Wyk, a judge since 2012, graduated with honors from Florida State University College of Law in 1994 and has a master’s degree in urban and regional planning also from FSU.

Previously, Van Wyk was a shareholder with Bryant Miller Olive in Tallahassee practicing in the areas of local government, land use, and litigation. She also served as assistant general counsel to the Florida Department of Community Affairs, as assistant county attorney with the Leon County Attorney’s Office, and as a staff attorney for the Florida Building Commission and the Florida Senate Committee on Community Affairs. She is board certified in City, County, and Local Government Law.

Van Wyk, a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow and Bronze Society donor, has previously served on the Florida Bar Committee on Professionalism and chaired the Voluntary Bar Liaison Committee. She is also a past president of the board of the Florida State University College of Law Alumni Association.

The Florida Bar Foundation accomplishes its mission by funding programs that expand and improve representation and advocacy on behalf of low-income persons in civil legal matters, improve the fair and effective administration of justice, and promote public service among lawyers.

In December 2023, The Florida Bar Foundation changed its name to FFLA. Posts prior to this date contain our former name.
