Tampa lawyer Lara J. Tibbals to serve on Foundation board

Tampa attorney Lara J. Tibbals has been appointed by The Florida Bar to the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice. Her three-year term begins July 1, 2019.

Tibbals currently serves Of Counsel in Hill Ward Henderson’s Litigation Group. Her experience in litigation matters includes intellectual property, contract and real estate, class actions, product liability and legal malpractice defense.

Tibbals earned her bachelor’s degree at Florida State University and her juris doctor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a circuit civil mediator. Tibbals serves on a Grievance Committee for the 13th Judicial Circuit and previously served on the Grievance Committee for the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. She is a Litigation Counsel of America Fellow.

Tibbals has been extensively involved in bar activities locally and statewide. She is the former president of the Young Lawyers Division for the Hillsborough County Bar Association and previously served on the association’s board of directors as its program chair. She is a past trustee of the Hillsborough County Bar Foundation. She is also the former chair of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 2nd District Court of Appeal, a former member of The Florida Bar’s Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee, Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors and vice-chair to The Florida Bar’s Student Education and Admission to the Bar Committee.

Tibbals received the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Outstanding Young Lawyer Award in 2006 and was a recipient of the James M. “Red” McEwen Award in 2010.

The Florida Bar Foundation accomplishes its mission by funding programs that expand and improve representation and advocacy on behalf of low-income persons in civil legal matters, improve the fair and effective administration of justice, and promote public service among lawyers.

In December 2023, The Florida Bar Foundation changed its name to FFLA. Posts prior to this date contain our former name.
